Philosophy

I believe learning to swim and being pool safe is not optional for children growing up in the Phoenix area. I take this very seriously and want to help your child learn how to swim. I cannot “talk” your child into being a good swimmer. I will get them in the water and help them to learn, patiently and lovingly.

Approach

Children have natural fears of being around water beginning around the age of three. I believe in loving and consistent instruction. I have found that this approach calms those fears and brings a joy and confidence to the water.

Goals

Each child is different and will grow at various rates. There are many factors to a child’s success in the water.  A child who has access to a pool regularly will typically progress at a faster pace. Children who only swim during their swim “lesson” will typically not flourish as quickly but will make steady progress. It is our goal to help your child become as “pool safe” as possible. We work with them on techniques on how to respond if they were to accidentally fall into a pool. We challenge them to swim the width or length of the pool at the end of two weeks with minimal assistance. The refresher and strokes classes work hard to perfect their strokes, dives and  if they like the challenge-“flip turns.”

All of our children will have fun and enjoy their swimming experience by the end of their lessons.

Special Needs

We have enjoyed working with children from many different backgrounds and needs. My experience as a teacher of children with special needs makes me very comfortable and confident with them, which in turn puts your child at ease.  The incorporation of picture supports help both my special and "typical" students.   If you have specific questions relating to your child, please contact me prior to registration to discuss any concerns.
